  • One problem after another... - 2004 Jeep Grand Cherokee

The 1st wk, with 132 miles on our new Jeep, a large rattling noise turned out to be a "part that was put in backwards." At 2000 miles, the Jeep broke down with symptoms of a failed transmission. The dealer, Buerge Jeep West LA refused me a rental car until I forced the issue and got a tiny, uncomfortable compact car. Never any apologies. When I picked up the car 3 days later, I waited 45 mins for my car 100 feet away. The leather seat and floor had black marks which werent there before. When I mentioned this to the driver, he said "talk to the mgr." Buerge Jeep in West L.A. has horrible cust. svc! Never will we buy/recommend any Jeep product.

My second Jeep, very predictable, reliable, handles very well on snow and ice, V6 a bit sluggish would opt for V8.

Former Nissan Altima owner for many years. I decided to finally get an SUV and couldnt resist the look and feel of the Jeep Grand Cherokee (4.7 v8). Jeep has a great smooth ride with excellent handling. I havent taken if off road as of yet but can tell you it handles well both in highway (65 plus mph) and city driving. Interior is very nice compared to others. Some suggestions - larger glove box & change the center console to something a little more user friendly. I was disappointed within the first week I had to replace a faulty chip (car wouldnt drive) but that can happen with any car. I did have to replace the front brakes at 35k but I hear that is standard with Jeep.

interior is too small (tight) switches are too close, such as window, door locks, etc. should be moved further forward for comfort and ease. Also, the front seats need to be adjusted somehow so the seats can be moved further back if need be. They are now very limited. If someone wants to nap in a reclined position the headrest is too hard, even being down.

this is the first new car I have ever bought for myself and I could not be happier, unless it got better gas mileage. But the good look and the great ride make up for that. I have the Laredo Special Edition so I am spoiled with the leather seats and all the extras... I will definately be a repeat buyer.

I have driven my Jeep to the Extreme, I have made it go into 4 feet of water with absolutly no problem. I like the the way it picks up speed quickly. Ride is not so soft but its not too hard like the Nissan X-terras. The SUV looks quite stylish and a little expensive looking. The Tailgate door needs a little more of a matching design. the rear tailgate door looks a lot like its relative the Dodge Minivan. Ive seen the new 2005 Jeep Grand Cherokee they look nice but still no third row seats. But yes I do recommend eep other than it seems like most Jeeps have a rear light problem.

40k miles and on 4th set of replacement front rotors. They represent the 5th set of front rotors. Would not buy another Jeep unless the problem (inherent since the mid 80s Im told) was resolved.

Where I live here in the Colorado mountains, I must have a solid and capable 4x4. The JGC has filled the bill with style. I think that those who criticize the JGC on bumps have not driven a 4x4 with solid floating axles front and rear before. It simply amazes me how responsive and smooth the JGC is considering the tough and proven components that make up the drivetrain and suspension. Mine had a bit of body roll too, but was practically eliminated with the installation of a set of quality tires with stronger sidewalls, in this case, Pirelli Scorpion STRs. The JGC is awesome on snow and ice through twisty mountain roads, and is smooth with good feel on the highway.
